             Gypsy's Chromosome Disorder - 1q21.1 Microdeletion Syndrome
Our website is updated on a daily basis. We're regularly working on new leads as well as deep diving information we already have, so information may change as                                  more truths are uncovered. We've only scratched the surface of this case, there's still so much more to discover.

Excerpts from Gypsy Rose Blanchard's 2024, 'memoir', 'My Time To Stand', are  interspersed throughout the website, to illustrate and reinforce that a false narrative continues to be promoted.

Rod and Kristy Blanchard claim Gypsy’s medical issues started not long after she was born, as indeed they did, but what neither of them ever reported was the medical reason behind why Gypsy had so many things wrong with her, despite having full and accurate knowledge of the underlying cause, and we have to question why they chose to withhold this key piece of crucial evidence.

Rod and Kristy Blanchard would sometimes mention Gypsy's 'chromosome disorder', but would immediately dismiss and underplay its significance.
In other words, they would distract.
In 2011, 4 years before Dee Dee was murdered, Gypsy, Rod and Kristy Blanchard all knew the name of Gypsy's chromosome disorder, 1q21.1 microdeletion syndrome, but it was a name they dare not speak.
Why?

Here's what we think.
Dee Dee Blanchard's murder is only media relevant on the grand scale it is because it was incorrectly taken as fact that Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy.
Without that diagnosis, interest in the case would never have spiralled to the heights it has.
Gypsy would never have become a celebrated media sensation, both inside and outside of prison.
Rod and Kristy Blanchard would not have taken centre stage at a 2016 film festival, or attended premieres with good 'ol cousin, Bobby Pitre, and their children - yes, their children.
Kristy Blanchard wouldn't have been able to describe herself on social media as being on, 'an HBO doc by Erin Lee Carr and Alison Byrne, 'Mommy Dead And Dearest'. Good Morning America, Dr Phil, 20/20 and Dr Oz'.
She would still have been plain old Kristy Blanchard, cleaner by profession, mother of two, and stepmother of none.
More importantly, there would have been no dollars to be made, and no plea deal on the table for Miss Gypsy Rose Blanchard.

The question of Gypsy being a potential victim of Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy was raised on a Facebook group discussion page the day after the discovery of Dee Dee's body, but at first it wasn't seriously considered.
People seemed more focused on the horror that had befallen, the victim, Dee Dee Blanchard, but the question rapidly picked up pace once Kristy Blanchard and Bobby Pitre entered the public arena.
Kristy Blanchard was on these group pages so much during this period, that people started asking if the so called 'grieving stepmother' didn't have other things she needed to be doing given the circumstances.
Apparently, she didn't.
The feather duster needed to go.

It was Kristy who first gave voice to a single 2007 written suspicion, hidden within the hundreds of pages of Gypsy's medical records, that Gypsy may be a victim of Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy, and once the cameras came a'knocking there was no longer any 'suspicion' about it; Gypsy Rose Blanchard was a victim of Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy.
Without question, this misinformation changed public perception of Gypsy's guilt.
And mainstream media's interest.
And blame.
Which was quickly redirected onto the shoulders of Dee Dee Blanchard.

So instead of releasing a medical fact that made sense of the legitimate health conditions Gypsy had, a medical suspicion was released as fact, in order to fuel the  train.
And so the lie hid the truth.
And the Gypsy train thundered out of the station.

Dr Marc Feldman, an expert in Munchausen By Proxy, who featured in both, 'Mommy Dead And Dearest' and 'Gypsy's Revenge' (Fees paid unknown), was the first doctor to come out publicly and proclaim that Gypsy was a bona fide victim of Munchausen By Proxy.
Dr Feldman reached this conclusion without ever having met or spoken to either Dee Dee, who was deceased, or Gypsy, who was incarcerated.
Dr Feldman didn't even read their medical records, and made zero reference to Gypsy's chromosome disorder.

Dr Feldman says, "As soon as I was aware of the case, I started searching the internet and trying to acquire all the information I could. And it became one of the least difficult cases I've ever seen in establishing this as Munchausen By Proxy". (Gypsy's Revenge, 2018).
Wow.
Apparently you don't need to meet patients or see their medical records to diagnose them.
You can just wait until they're dead and then look on the internet and see what other people have said about them.
Dr Feldman also makes the startling claim that,
"The majority of Make A Wish participants are victims of Munchausen by Proxy.” (M J Pack, Thought Catalog, 2015).

On June 19th 2015, 4 days after the discovery of Dee Dee's body, Megan J pack, who worked real time on a blog about the case, reached out to Dr Feldman. He told her that he had looked at the case and decided that Dee Dee, "most likely had both Munchausen by Proxy disorder and Malingering by Proxy".
A year later, during filming for 'Mommy Dead And Dearest', Dr Feldman's initial diagnosis escalated to, 'Gypsy was as consistently and viciously subjected to, in my opinion, Munchausen By proxy as anyone I've ever come across". ('Mommy Dead And Dearest', 2017).
In 2018, during his appearance in 'Gypsy's Revenge', Dr Feldman reverted back to his initial diagnosis of
both Munchausen by Proxy disorder and Malingering by Proxy, minus the 'most likely'.

For every expert in Dr Feldman's field of 'expertise' who says Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy, there will be one who says she wasn't.

You don't even need to be an expert to suggest that Gypsy wasn't a victim, the evidence is there in black and white for all the world to see.
In 2011, doctors identified Gypsy's chromosome disorder as, 1q21.1 microdeletion syndrome.

Described in basic terms, 1q21.1 microdeletion syndrome is a very rare genetic condition in which a tiny piece is missing from one of the body's 46 chromosomes.
The tiny missing bit raises the risk of learning, behaviour and mental health problems, as well as physical abnormalities.

Symptoms of the condition may present in a newborn or an infant.
Some people with the condition have no observable features, while others have variable findings that can include a small head, developmental delay (speech and motor delays), mild intellectual disability, distinctive facial features, and eye abnormalities.
Other findings can include seizures, and abnormalities of the heart, skeleton, and urinary system.
Psychiatric and behavioural features can include, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety and mood disorders, schizophrenia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and sleep disorders.

The most likely features of the condition are -
A small head -
Microcephaly. The micro deletion influences head growth. Two thirds of people with the condition have small heads. There is a possible link between the head size and schizophrenia.
An increased possibility of mild or moderate developmental delay -
A baby or child with the condition needs to be monitored vigilantly for developmental delay and learning difficulties.
Sitting, crawling and walking, fine motor control, and toilet training may be delayed.
Slightly unusual facial features -
May have a prominent forehead, deep-set eyes and a somewhat bulbous nose.
An increased possibility of behavioural or mental health problems -
People with the condition are at high risk for a range of behaviour difficulties and mental health problems. The key concerns that have emerged are - ADHD, anti social behaviour, aggressiveness, autistic-like behaviour, anxiety, depression and hallucinations.
Schizophrenia is more common in people with the condition than in the general population.
A heart problem -
It is uncertain whether having the condition places babies at risk of being born with a heart condition.
Loose joints or double-jointedness -
In a study, 25% of people with the condition have low muscle tone, known as, hypotonia, and reduced muscle strength.
Other features include - Seizures. Disturbances in the lens of the eye, including, strabismus and an increased risk of inborn abnormalities.

Babies and children with 1q21.1 microdeletion syndrome may have feeding difficulties including - bringing feeds back, lack of appetite, choking on lumps, failing to chew, gastro-oesophageal reflux, delayed gastric emptying, uncoordinated swallowing and tongue thrusting. Some babies need tube feeding and treatment for reflux.

Some children with chromosome disorders seem particularly prone to childhood infections and suffer worse when they catch them. Ear and chest infections are particularly common.

The condition can be genetic.
With this knowledge, you'll have a better understanding of the medical conditions Gypsy had.
Without this knowledge, you would likely believe Gypsy was a victim of Munchausen Syndrome By proxy.
She wasn't.
Whilst there is no cure for 1q21.1 microdeletion syndrome, the health conditions associated with it can be treated and managed.

By the time of Gypsy's arrest in 2015, she may well have outgrown some of the health conditions associated with the disorder, thanks entirely to Dee Dee's diligence and care.

Thank you Fancy Macelli of The Good Wives' Network for sharing this diagnosis in 2023.
Oh how the Blanchards must have wept.

In 2011, Dee Dee was invited to test to see if she had the chromosome disorder. She took the test and tested negative.
In 2011, Rod was invited to test to see if he had the chromosome disorder. Rod did not respond to the request. No surprise there.

In one of Gypsy's first post-prison interviews, made just over a week after her release, Gypsy stated, "I'm completely healthy. I have no health problems whatsoever". (ABC News, 6th January, 2024).
When Gypsy made this statement she knew she had a very rare genetic condition, 1q21.1 microdeletion syndrome.

In 2024, Gypsy finally revealed that she does in fact have the disorder, but claimed she is in the 75% bracket of people who don't show any symptoms of the disorder.
'75%' does not relate to any actual research ever done in relation to the condition.
It's a number Gypsy made up.

In the 15 minute read, 'My Time To Stand', like I've always been able to do,  Gypsy claims she found out she had the chromosome disorder in 2024, but new evidence which came to light in 2025, reveals Gypsy told a friend in 2014, "Anyways my health has been stable they found out I have a chromosome deletion that's why all the medical issues". (Source: Into The Weeds Podcast).

In 2024, Gypsy stated in the comments of a TikTok live, that she had a 'never before mentioned anywhere, ever, not once, not one single time' disorder called 'Conversion Disorder', which she alleges is the cause of all her other health conditions.(Source: The Good Wives' Network).
Gypsy has never been diagnosed with a conversion disorder.
Gypsy has 1q21.1 microdeletion syndrome.
But 1q21.1 microdeletion syndrome doesn't sell tickets folks.
It doesn't make you a 'victim' in a murder case, and it doesn't buy your freedom.
But Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy does.
And so the Gypsy train thunders on.

♫ Clackity-Clack ♫

(Excerpt below) In 2024, Gypsy finally, publicly, acknowledged that she has a chromosome disorder, likely 13 years after she privately knew. She then goes on to suggest that it was just a coincidence that she had all the illnesses associated with the disorder, as she didn't actually have anything medically wrong with her. She then - prepare to gasp in disbelief - suggests that maybe Dee Dee had the chromosome disorder diagnosed before she had any of her illnesses, so that she would know which illnesses to fake. (Source: 'My Time To Stand' and convince everyone I was a victim of Munchausen By Proxy, because people are really, really stupid, including medical experts ... all except Dr Marc Feldman).
