Our website is updated on a daily basis. We're regularly working on new leads as well as deep diving information we already have, so information may change as more truths are uncovered. We've only scratched the surface of this case, there's still so much more to discover.

Excerpts from Gypsy Rose Blanchard's 2024, 'memoir', 'My Time To Stand', are  interspersed throughout the website, to illustrate and reinforce that a false narrative continues to be promoted.

Hollywood calling.                                                                       Sorry, but you are?                                                           Touché, Kristy. Touché.
"I do think Gypsy is potentially dangerous" (Erin Lee Carr, 2017)

Aleah Woodmansee, who, post-murder, put herself forward as being like a 'sister' to Gypsy, said the uncovering of Dee Dee's abuse, "Really altered my view of Dee Dee. I mean once I started realising the extent of what she did and her actions. I started realising how cruel she was, and how she allowed her daughter to be essentially tortured, constantly, for all of her life". (Gypsy's Revenge, 2018).
Harsh words indeed from a woman who knew in 2014 that Gypsy had a chromosome disorder yet failed to report it in any of the many interviews she 'reluctantly' gave.

Even harsher when you consider another interview Ms Woodmansee gave in 2015, in which she recognised that Dee Dee was practically ruining her own health taking care of Gypsy.
We wonder what changed in the space of two years?  Eyes to the right; M J Pack's 'new' friend.

Kristy Blanchard, the once absent, now fully present, step-mother, or, 'mum' of Gypsy, as she likes to be known post-murder, asserted, "When we found out everything that happened with Dee Dee and with Gypsy, I was furious. I couldn't believe that a mother would do this to their child. How could any parent, you know, hurt their child. But Dee Dee was a piece of work. Definitely a piece of work." (Mother Knows Best, 2017).
And what father plays no physical role in his child's life for 11 years and then does an about turn when she commits a murder?
Speaking of who ...
In 2017, Rod Blanchard told the New York Post,
“I think if Dee Dee was right here, right now, I might do the same thing that Gypsy did.” adding, “It’s absolutely horrifying that you can do that to your child.” (New York Post, 9th May 2017).
Do what exactly? Take responsibility for her? Literally die for her?
What vile human beings.

Arguably, a lot of people's initial perception of Dee Dee Blanchard, was shaped by, 'Mommy Dead And Dearest' (2017), directed by Kristy Blanchard's, 'beautiful friend', Erin Lee Carr.
Filming for 'Mommy Dead And Dearest' began before Gypsy was even offered a plea deal.
Could they have been that confident that a plea deal was coming?
It was 'Mommy Dead And Dearest' that regurgitated the unproven diagnosis of Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy, courtesy of, in our opinion,  Kristy Blanchard, but did so to a much wider audience, through, what they believed to be, a slightly more reliable mouthpiece, that of Munchausen 'expert', Dr Marc Feldman.
On the 19th June 2016, Meagan J Pack, writer of the 2015 blog about the case and good friend to Aleah Woodmansee and Gypsy Rose Blanchard, conducted an interview with Dr Feldman, who told her Dee Dee most likely had Munchausen By Proxy disorder and Malingering By Proxy.
During his interview with Ms Pack, Dr Feldman also stated,
“I’ve joked in the past, and I hope it’s a joke, that the majority of Make A Wish participants are victims of Munchausen by Proxy.” (M J Pack, Thoughtcatalog, 2016).
Perhaps the organisers and participants of the 'Make A Wish' foundation would care to comment on this.
'Most likely' then miraculously transformed into, (Dr Feldman)"Gypsy Rose Blanchard was as consistently and viciously subjected to, in my opinion, Munchausen By Proxy, as anyone I've come across", in time for Dr Feldman's appearance in 'Mommy Dead And Dearest'. (Fee paid unknown).

'Mommy Dead And Dearest' was filmed with the full support and false narrative of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, Kristy Blanchard and Rod Blanchard, and was released on 16th May 2017.
A week before its release,  Erin Lee Carr had reached out to Nicholas Godejohn; "Carr’s requests to speak to Godejohn or his lawyer for the documentary went unanswered. From watching his (Nick) entire interrogation footage, Carr says, “I think he is a severely mentally ill person who got a bad end of this.” (New York Post, 9th May 2017).
A week later, 'Mommy Dead And Dearest' tossed that 'severely mentally ill person who got a bad end' to the wolves, along with the actual victim of the crime, Dee Dee Blanchard.
We have read many reviews of the documentary; not one questions the misinformation presented, or view Dee Dee Blanchard as anything other than responsible for her own murder.

What fun Rod and Kristy Blanchard appear to have had at the premiere of 'Mommy Dead And Dearest' with their then 15 year old → daughter, Mia.

Nicholas Godejohn was still 18 months away from the start of his trial when 'Mommy Dead And Dearest' was released.

'Mommy Dead And Dearest' was quickly followed by Dr Phil's 'Mother Knows Best': A Story Of Munchausen By Proxy And Murder', a two part TV series, first aired on 21st November, 2017, which did nothing to knock the halo from Gypsy's head or the devil's horns from the heads of Dee Dee and Nick.
'Mommy Dead And Dearest' planted the seed, 'Mother Knows Best' watered it.

Nicholas Godejohn was still just under a year away from the start of his trial when 'Mother Knows Best': A Story Of Munchausen By Proxy And Murder' was released.

The ABC News series, 20/20; 'Gypsy's Truth And Lies', presented by, to us, Amy Robach, to Kristy Blanchard,  Amy, was aired on 6th January, 2018, as was the continued vilification of Dee Dee Blanchard and Nicholas Godejohn .
Nicholas Godejohn's trial was still 10 months away.

'Gypsies Truth And Lies' was followed by 'Gypsy's Revenge' on 6th November 2018, released a week before Nick's trial.
It sealed the deal.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard was a victim of Munchausen Syndrome By Proxy.
Dee Dee Blanchard was an abusive and evil monster.
And Nicholas Godejohn was a cold-blooded, deranged killer.

Nicholas Godejohn's trial for first degree murder and armed criminal action opened on the 13th November, 2018.
The trial was heard in Greene County, Missouri, the same county the murder was committed in.
Potential jurors plucked from a selection of Greene County residents would have had an especially keen interest in a crime that had occurred within its location, and likely followed media reports connected to the case.
Most of the jury pool selected for Nick's trial admitted to having watched 'Mommy Dead And Dearest'.

There was no way in a month of Sundays Nicholas Godejohn could have got a fair trial.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard's second lamb to the slaughter stood no better chance than her first.

                                                                                                           Don't ignore Kristy Blanchard folks!
"They didn't really have to kill my sister. They could have just ran away together, but they chose to go a
different route and my sister got killed. Well not killed, (stresses) murdered. (Evans Pitre, 2018).

Back in 2017, Rod Blanchard posed the question, "No doubt they (Nick and Gypsy) did it, or planned it and everything, so it was just a matter of, why they did it, you know, and is that reasonable" ('Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
There is no argument. Gypsy could have left.
In Rod's opinion, "She (Gypsy) just had enough and snapped." (Mother Knows Best, 2017).
There is no argument. Gypsy could have left.

Rod's current wife, the ever present Kristy Blanchard, suggested, "I think Gypsy had her mom killed so she could finally live the life she wanted." (Mother Knows Best, 2017).
There is no argument. Gypsy could have left.

Good 'ol cousin Bobby Pitre, reasoned, "Gypsy was backed up into a corner, and she tried to get out but she couldn't." (The Prison Confessions, 2024).
There is no argument. Gypsy could have left.

When Gypsy was confronted with the question of why she wanted Dee Dee dead, she responded, "I knew I was being abused, but I didn't know exactly what kind of abuse it was. I just knew that I wasn't allowed to do a lot of things and my mother was the reason. She would force me to be in a wheelchair and force me to go to doctor's appointments that I didn't need, and I just wanted that life to stop, so ultimately I never wanted her dead, I just wanted that life to stop. That life to be dead. (Mother Knows Best, 2017).
There is no argument. Gypsy could have left.

(Dr Marc Feldman) “The control was total, in the same sense that the control of a kidnapped victim sometimes is total. Her (Dee Dee) daughter was, in essence, a hostage, and I think we can understand the crime that occurred subsequently in terms of a hostage trying to gain escape”. (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
See images below.

How many kidnappers leave their 'hostages' in situations they can easily 'escape' from, whilst they pop out to the local store?
How many hostages use said opportunities to grab a toothbrush and create  pornographic videos?

On the question of Gypsy's feelings about Dee Dee being dead, Gypsy said, "I'm not happy that she's dead. You know, I didn't want that. I know it sounds strange to plan something and go through the steps to make it happen and then, but at the same time not want it to happen". (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
(Gypsy) "I'm glad that I'm out of that situation, but I am not happy that she's dead. (Mother Knows Best, 2017).
(Gypsy) "I was happy because I was free". (Gypsy's Revenge, 2018).
One of the first things Gypsy planned to do when she was 'free', was have sex with Dan Glidewell who she had arranged to meet in a cup cake shop.

When Gypsy was asked if what she did was justified, she responded, "No, nothing justifies murder. I think that abuse should be punished by prison". (Mother Knows Best, 2017).
That was not the question Gypsy was asked.
Gypsy was also asked if she deserved prison time, "To be honest I have complicated feelings about that. I believe firmly that no matter what, murder is not okay, But at the same time, I don't believe I deserve as many years as I got" (Mother Knows Best, 2017).
We believe Gypsy should have got a lot more years.

When Gypsy was asked if justice had been served, Gypsy replied, "No. She (Dee Dee) didn't deserve what happened. If anything she just deserved to be where I am". (Mother Knows Best, 2017).

On the question of if Nick was to blame for Dee Dee's death, Gypsy said, "I asked him to, played a part asking him (Nick) to commit the murder. That is why I am in prison". (The Prison Confessions, 2024).
In other words, it was Dee Dee and Nick's fault that she was imprisoned.

When Gypsy was asked what she thought should happen to Nick, Gypsy had no hesitation in saying, "I think he should get, I think he should spend the rest of his life in prison." (Mother Knows Best, 2017).
When Gypsy was questioned as to her feelings for Nick, she confessed, "I can't stand him. Because I went from one abusive person to another". (Mother Knows Best, 2017).
(Nick) "She said, 'If you truly love me, you'd be willing to do this for me, because, you know, this is the only way we can be together'. And at some point, I ended up giving in because I didn't know what else to do.
There's nothing I wouldn't do for her. There's truly nothing I wouldn't do. I was just excited to be with her for the rest of my life, and I believed that's what she wanted”. (Gypsy's Revenge, 2018).

When Gypsy was asked if she could have done anything differently, she replied, "The only thing I could have done differently, that I know better now, is reach out to my dad, told my dad. And he could have came and got me and I would've went and lived with him". (Mommy Dead And Dearest', 2017).
Rod knew you could walk, Gyp.
He didn't come get you.
He didn't want you.

Hoping to catch Trump's eye.                                 We'll leave this one here.
On a recent 2024 podcast, Gypsy disclosed, "I don't associate myself as a murderer because if you think about it, yes, I had a part to play in it. I requested, I asked Nick for help and how all that conversation started was, he was saying, you know, that he would protect me from anyone. I said, 'Anyone? He said, 'Yes'. I said, 'Even my mother?' He said, 'Yes'. And then the plan kind of formed from there. But he's the one that did the actual kill. Not me. I can't actually kill anyone that's why he's in trouble to begin with, because he's the one that did it. So when they say I'm a murderer, I don't identify as that". (Viall Files, 8th January, 2014).
Bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang.
When Gypsy was asked if she thought Nick exploited her, she responded with an unbelievable and emphatic, "Yes". (Mother Knows Best, 2017).

In one of Gypsy's early post-prison interviews, she talked about a recurring nightmare she had, linked to the guilt she feels about what happened.
But Gypsy's nightmare doesn't relate to the horror of what Dee Dee experienced in her final moments, instead it's about the guilt Gypsy feels for, "Not reaching out to other people to, um, help me out". (Nick Viall, 8th January, 2024).
You were in your twenties Gyp, and the way out was through the front door.

Rod Blanchard can't seem to make up his mind as to his own role in what happened, "I blame myself now for not doing more. I mean, it is what it is. You know, I'm not a 'blame yourself' type of guy, but who else is there to look at, you know". (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
Agreed.

Later in 2017, Rod mused, "I feel guilt. How can I let this happen? You know, why I wasn't there for Gypsy more. If I could have built that relationship with her, she wouldn't have hesitated to call me". (Mother Knows Best, 2017).
Rod would later state, "I don't blame her (Gypsy) for what she done. Everyone failed Gypsy. From down, from myself, her mother, doctors, police, Social Services. We all looked out for ourselves". (Gypsy's Revenge, 2018).
No Rod. It was you. You failed both women.

Rod is aware of the criticism that is aimed at him, "They (critics) don't understand that I've always been supportive,” he said. “In every way,” Kristy chimed in. (Michelle Dean, BuzzFeedNews, August 19th, 2016).
This is a bizarre statement coming from a father who didn't physically see his child for 11 years, reinforced by a woman who 'chimed in' far too often.

Following Gypsy's arrest, Kristy disclosed, "She (Gypsy) started calling me mom, I want to say it was about 6 months in". (The Prison Confessions, 2024).
In 'Mommy Dead And Dearest', Kristy Blanchard shows us a silver framed photo of Gypsy meeting Father Christmas, which she displays prominently in her home.
She claims Gypsy is about 21 or 22 in the photo.
Like Kristy Blanchard would know.
This framed photo was originally on a shelf in Dee Dee's bedroom on the night she was murdered.
It may well have been the last photographic image of Gypsy Dee Dee ever saw.
And, who knows, the twang of Dee Dee's rotting corpse may still have hung in the air when Kristy claimed the photo as hers.
One
intent in trophy collecting may be to demonstrate dominance over the deceased.
'I got your husband. Now I have your child'.
On 16th June 2015, Gypsy and Nick were charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.
Bond was set at a million dollars, which nobody in the Blanchard family had, at that time.

On 21st June 2015, Gypsy placed a telephone call to her aunt Celeste, Rod's sister, "Gypsy spoke of how she was innocent and she got messed up with someone very awful". (Stan Hancock, Supplemental Report, 8th July 2015).

On 22nd June 2015, Gypsy placed a call to Kristy Blanchard, "She told (Kristy) Christy to tell her dad she was innocent and she wanted to know if her dad still loved her. Gypsy told (Kristy) Christy the things which had been said on the news media were not true". (Stan Hancock, Supplementary Report, 28th July 2015).
On 23rd June 2015, Gypsy placed a call to Rod Blanchard. Gypsy spoke about, "How she wanted to build a relationship with her dad and she told him she wanted him to know she was innocent". (Stan Hancock, Supplementary Report, 28th July 2015).

A supplementary police report records two further jail calls.
In one, Gypsy was heard talking to a female, likely Kristy, who she told, "I never asked him (Nick) to be that gruesome". (Stan Hancock, Supplementary Report, 28th July 2015).
As if killing her mother wasn't gruesome in itself.
In a second call, made on 24th July 2015 at 20.50, Gypsy is recorded telling Rod, "I was desperate to get away". (Stan Hancock, Supplementary Report, 28th July 2015).

In 'Mommy Dead And Dearest' (2017), part of a jail telephone call between Gypsy and Rod is aired.
(Gypsy) "Daddy, I understand that we haven't had a chance to get close in a long time, probably my whole life."
Rod responded, "I have a lot of questions, obviously. You know, I'm confused."
Nothing new there.
Gypsy told Rod, "The stuff they say in the news is horrible and not true. You know that I love my mama and you know that I would never hurt her. Just know that I am innocent and know that I'm still your little girl". (Gypsy's Truth And lies, 2018).

A jail call between Gypsy and Kristy is also aired -
(Kristy) "Hey my sweetie".
Bear in mind Kristy's proclamation, "I'd speak to Gypsy a couple of times every, every few months, special occasions, um, calling to see how she was doing. If she had a surgery, or if she was feeling ill, or a doctor's appointment, you know, calling to, you know, see how things went. I never thought that anything was wrong." (The Killer Thorn Of Gypsy Rose, 2019).
So of course, Gypsy would straight away recognise Kristy's voice, right?
Nope.
(Gypsy) "Hi! Is this Kristy?"
(Kristy) "Yes baby".
Once Gypsy established who she was talking to, she told Kristy, "I'm innocent. It's a complicated situation but what they say on the news is not true." (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
In May 2025, the full jail calls were released following a FOIA request made by Trixie Layne
They can be seen in full here
Whilst Gypsy was held awaiting trial she shared a cell with three other inmates, Amanda Flores, Markayla Lutz and Mariah Rodriguez.
On the 14th July 2015, Gypsy reported Amanda Flores to a corrections officer, claiming that she had witnessed Flores place a small, plastic bag inside her vagina when she was using the toilet, and had also witnessed her trading marijuana for commissary.
Gypsy provided the names of two inmates Flores traded with.
In jail terminology, Gypsy snitched.

On the 11th August 2015, Amanda Flores requested to speak to a detective working on Dee Dee's case.
She met with Detective Stan Hancock and offered to provide information about the case in return for immunity.
Hancock advised Amanda Flores that he wouldn't be able to offer this, but Amanda Flores decided to continue to provide information stating that
she didn't want to see Gypsy get away with murder.
Whilst the information provided by Flores could be described as suspect given her initial motive was for immunity, it also provides information that hadn't been made public at that time.
Amanda Flores described Gypsy as, 'creepy smart'.
She reported that she asked Gypsy if she had, "sought Nicholas out" to kill Dee Dee, and Gypsy had responded, "I probably did".
Flores stated that she was aware that Nick had cut his finger from stabbing Dee Dee, and also reported that Gypsy would talk about missing her 'stuffed animal', but Flores couldn't remember what animal it was.
Barney by any chance?

Flores said that Gypsy had tried, but failed, to get one of her friends to pass notes to Nick.
Flores also claimed that Gypsy had twice told her, "I'm going to get away with this".
Flores said that Gypsy told her she had put the knife in Nick's hand and told him to go and kill her mother.
Gypsy also told Flores that she had turned the air conditioning to 40 to preserve Dee Dee's body.
The report states, "She (Gypsy) cleaned up the blood including blood in the bedroom. Flores said Gypsy told her she went into Clauddinnea's bedroom after she was dead and took five thousand dollars out of a drawer from a table beside her mum's bed".
Flores claimed that Gypsy told her she had cleaned up the blood from the 'bed' to the 'bathroom', saying that she had cleaned up, "pretty good". (Stan Hancock, Supplemental Report, 11th August, 2015).
A lot of the information Amanda Flores gave, had not been released into the public domain at the time she spoke to Detective Hancock.

On the 2nd September 2015, Detective Hancock met and spoke to, Markayla Lutz, who confirmed much of what Amanda Flores had said.
Lutz also told Detective Hancock that Gypsy said she had originally expected Dee Dee to have $10,000 in savings, but that Dee Dee had used $5,000 of the money towards buying a car.
Detective Stan Hancock reported in his supplemental report, "It should be noted a contract between Clauddinea and Central Bank of America was located for purchase of a 2011 Nissan Cube on April 9th, 2015. The contract indicated $5,000 in cash was put down toward the purchase of the Nissan Cube". (Stan Hancock, Supplemental Report, 2nd September, 2015).

How would Markayla Lutz have known that Dee Dee had used half of her savings to finance a new car unless Gypsy told her?

On 28th March 2025, NPG: Cornerstone Nation, Nicholas Godejohn's chosen support group, released information relating to a series of jail calls Gypsy made whilst on remand.
In these calls, Gypsy claimed -
1, She didn't know the extent of what Nick had done. Will be debunked  Whilst Nick says Gypsy didn't see Dee Dee's body, he has also stated that there is one thing he will never reveal; a secret he will take to his grave. We have no doubt Gypsy Rose Blanchard saw her mother's body.
2. She feels like she's a victim. Debunked ✓ Dee Dee Blanchard is a victim. Nicholas Godejohn, who committed a heinous crime, is nonetheless a victim of sorts. Stephanie Goldammer, Nick's mother, is a victim.
Gypsy Rose Blanchrd is not a victim.
3. She was completely honest with her attorney. Debunked ✓ (Gypsy) "This is actually, kind of, the first time I've been honest. Besides being honest, you know, with my attorneys. Even then, I haven't been entirely honest with them". (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
4. She wouldn't 'do that normally' (re: the context of her text messages to Nick). Debunked ✓ Gypsy sent Nick approximately 101 videos, many of which contained pornographic images and practices.
5. Her pictures were taken out of context (her as Harley Quinn). Debunked ✓ Were the topless photos Gypsy sent to 4 men between the ages of 35-50 also taken 'out of context'?

Gypsy also revealed the following information -
1. Her attorney, Mike Stanfield had a plan to use battered spouse syndrome as a defense. Atrocious ✓ Not only is this tactic extremely offensive to anybody who has suffered as a result of domestic abuse, evidence does not support a claim that Gypsy was a victim of spousal abuse.
2. She doesn't enjoy the media attention. Debunked ✓ Overwhelming evidence confirms Gypsy revels in the spotlight ✓
3. She had a plan to argue she suffered memory loss and couldn't remember what happened with regards to the actual crime. Debunked ✓ Gypsy has presented her differing versions of what happened on many occasions.
4. Nick was cheating on her - Debunked ✓ Nick may have been talking to other women online, but there is no evidence to suggest he physically cheated on her. Neither did he plan in advance to have sex with another person the day after Dee Dee's murder, as Gypsy did.
5. Dee Dee lied about her age. If Dee Dee ever reported her age incorrectly - hey, how many women over a certain age have sometimes done that -  we cannot see its relevance to the case.
6. Nick is a 'dolt'. Untrue  A dolt is a derogatory term used to describe a stupid person. Having learning disabilities does not make someone 'stupid'. Having a low IQ does not make someone 'stupid'.

On the 17th June, 2015, Nick and Gypsy, clad in standard orange prison jumpsuits, made separate appearances at a pre-trial hearing at the Greene County courthouse.
Nick appeared calm throughout the hearing, as if readying himself to face the consequences of his actions.
Gypsy adopted a role she was familiar playing; that of a lost, scared, vulnerable 12 year old child, who didn't appear to know where she was or why she was there.

Rod Blanchard said that when he saw Gypsy walking, "I felt so stupid. If she can walk, what else have we been lied to about?" (Gypsy Truth And Lies, 2018).
We too were left wondering what else we had been lied to about, because in a Facebook post made shortly after Gypsy's arrest, Kristy Blanchard admits to knowing all along that Gypsy could walk.

A 2015 Springfield News-Leader report revealed that warrants had been issued for 193 pages of Gypsy's medical records, as well as video surveillance from Gypsy's last visit to Cox Hospital made on June 8th, 2015.

The article stated,  "It has been unclear how involved Gypsy was in the family’s financial fraud scheme, but the new warrants seem to suggest she at least played a role.
The investigator applying for the warrant wrote: “It is my belief that due to this information, Clauddinnea and Gypsy have defrauded an unknown amount of persons for an unknown amount of time". (Harrison Keegan, The Springfield News-Leader, June, 2015).
Clauddinnea and Gypsy.

In November 2015, a decision was made by the prosecution to waive the death penalty for both defendants.
Meagan J Pack attended the hearing along with camera-shy Aleah Woodmansee, who must have decided not to escape the media limelight that day.

Meagan Pack reported that when the decision was read out, Nick mouthed the words, “Thank you, dear lord, thank you.”  (M J Pack, Thoughtcatalog, 2016).
Nick was likely thinking about that in terms of Gypsy, not himself.
Greene County Prosecutor, Dan Patterson reported, "Being a prosecutor, the standard is to do what's right and what's just. This case was not an appropriate first-degree murder case in which to seek the death penalty". (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017)..

In January 2016, Gypsy and Nick appeared in court together again, sitting just feet apart.
Neither acknowledged the other.
A trial date was set for the 28th November, 2016.

On Tuesday July 5th 2016 at 9am, the court announced a 'surprise' pre-trial hearing for Gypsy, the 'surprise' being that Gypsy had been offered and accepted a plea deal to a lesser charge of murder in the second degree.
Gypsy's attorney, Mike Stanfield, whispered to Gypsy in the courtroom, "This is the new charge, class A felony of murder in the second degree". (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
The judge announced to the court, "She's (Gypsy) to be sentenced to 10 years in the Missouri Department Of Corrections, She'll have to do 85% of her sentence before she's eligible for parole". (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
Ten years is the minimum sentence for
a second-degree murder charge.
After the judge concluded sentencing, Gypsy Rose Blanchard turned to Mike Stanfield and you can visibly see her smile.

Greene County Prosecutor, Dan Patterson stated, "Gypsy Blanchard endured nearly two decades of systematic, purposeful abuse at the hands of her mother for the purpose of fraud. And so by amending to murder in the second degree, we were both able to hold Gypsy Blanchard accountable for the murder which was not justified nor excusable, but yet account for those mitigating circumstances". (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
Shame on you Mr. Patterson.
T
here were no mitigating circumstances.
But there was a film crew in court filming, 'Mommy Dead And Dearest'.

Following Gypsy's sentencing, her attorney, Mike Stanfield, told the waiting press outside the courtroom, "All of us involved are, it's a relief." (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
We're pretty sure avoiding a trial was the relief.
Stanfield continued, "Ultimately it's the best outcome for her. It's the best outcome for the state of Missouri, and ultimately, the right thing to do for everybody". (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
For everybody except the victim, Dee Dee Blanchard.
For everybody except her co-defendant, Nicholas Godejohn.
Mike Stanfield saved a few special words just for Erin Lee Carter, director of 'Mommy Dead And Dearest', "I mean, it's a murder. There's nothing we can do about that".
No Mike, there was nothing Dee Dee Blanchard could do about it.

Rod and Kristy Blanchard were allowed to have their first full contact visit with Gypsy immediately following sentencing.
It was the first time they had set eyes on Gypsy in over a decade.
In a Facebook post made just before the visit, Kristy Blanchard enthused, "Going see our beautiful daughter Tuesday".
She mistakenly attaches a photo of Gypsy to the post.
Kristy Blanchard has a daughter.
Her name is Mia.
Gypsy Rose Blanchard had a mother.
Her name was Dee Dee Blanchard.

Kristy Blanchard later suggested in a Facebook post, that the visit had been, 'full of kisses, hugs and tears', and compared seeing Gypsy to, "Holding your child right after they are born".
Rod and Kristy were filmed in their motel room getting themselves ready for the visit.
What they seem to be readying themselves for, was less Gypsy, and more 'Mommy Dead And Dearest'.
For the most part, Kristy was shown applying make up.
Rod's dilemma seemed to be which colour hat he should wear, a white one or a green one.
Rod asked Kristy, whilst sporting the green hat, "Green?".
Kristy responded, whilst applying mascara, "Yeah".
Rod then replaced the green hat with the white hat, "White or green?"
(Kristy), "No, no, no, no, no".
Rod, in white cap, "It's my favourite hat".
(Kristy) "No, other hat". (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
Without question Rod removed his 'favourite hat' and put on the green one.
Just one little clip says so much about their relationship.
When Rod and Kristy finally got to see Gypsy, there were zero tears , and Rod, wearing his green hat, was the only one who went in for a hug.
Rod told Gypsy, "Honestly, we was hoping for less".
Gypsy replied, "I look at it like I could've got life in prison, you know". (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
We look at it like she should have got life in prison.
Gypsy told Rod, "I was thinking if I get life in prison, and that is what I get. I'm committing suicide right now, you know. I was seriously considering it". (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).

As Gypsy was led from the courtroom, Rod called after her, "Don't get in trouble". Gypsy responded, "I won't, I'll be a good girl". (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
An assurance that, 'I'll be a good girl' didn't end well for Dee Dee Blanchard.
Kristy claimed that when the meeting ended, Gypsy hugged Rod and said, "Daddy, I don't want to go, I want to go home with you and mom", and they all, "cried again".
In reality, at the end of the visit (1.19), Gypsy cried, "I don't want to go. I don't want to go. I don't want to go". (Mommy Dead And Dearest, 2017).
At no point did Gypsy say, "I want to go home with you and mum", and the only one who cried was Gypsy.

Dr Phil would later ask Gypsy, "Should you be in this prison?"
Gypsy answered, "To be honest I have complicated feelings about that. I believe firmly that no matter what, murder is not okay, But at the same time, I don't believe I deserve as many years as I got".
Even Dr Phil was slightly taken aback, and continues, "But your mother is dead".
(Gypsy) "She is, yes"
(Dr Phil) "And she was murdered".
(Gypsy) "Yes Sir".
(Dr Phil) "And you were involved".
(Gypsy) "I was".
(Dr Phil) "And but for you initiating this sequence of events she would still be alive".
(Gypsy) "Yes Sir".
(Dr Phil) "So in that sense, you are responsible for her death".
(Gypsy) "Yes Sir." (Mother Knows Best, 2017).
That took some doing.

Dr Phil asked Gypsy, "What do you want to do with your life?"
Gypsy responded, "I want to be an advocate for abused children or abused people". (Mother Knows Best, 2017).
We have suffered abuse and know other people who have.
Under absolutely no circumstances would we ever want this woman to advocate for us or for them.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard was released from the Chillicothe Correctional Centre on December 28th, 2023, after serving 8 and a half years of her sentence.

Since her release, her behaviour and her actions, well documented in the media, speak for themselves.
There are no tears for Dee Dee Blanchard.
There is no genuine remorse for her actions.
There is no compassion for Nicholas Godejohn.
And still, still, the grifter grifts.

Nicholas Godejohn was also offered a plea deal.
In fact, he was offered two, both of which he declined.

When Gypsy was asked post release as to her feelings about Nick still being in prison, she was quick to highlight the fact that Nick was offered and refused two plea deals, whereas she, the 'good girl' that she is, complied, and accepted the very first plea deal she was offered.
But the plea deal Gypsy was offered and accepted was 10 years for second degree murder.
Nick was offered life in prison for second degree murder with the possibility of parole.
Nick felt, quite rightly in our opinion, that he should have been offered a plea deal closer to the sentence Gypsy received.
And so Nick's rejection of a lesser charge was the reason his initial charge of first degree murder and armed criminal action still stood when he went to trial.
That in itself doesn't sound right.
If a prosecutor is willing to accept a defendant is guilty of second degree murder, how can he then prosecute that same defendant on a first degree murder charge?

Nick's trial by jury began on the 13th November, 2018.
Nick pled not guilty all charges.

80 potential jurors were called to trial and asked if they had any knowledge of the case.
So many of them answered, 'Yes', the question had to be changed to, 'Did not have knowledge of the case'.
Only 13 of the potential jurors attested to not having heard about the case.

Most of the jurors who sat on the panel later admitted they had seen media coverage of the case prior to Nick's trial, but were not asked if they had.
It was then left in the hands of the chosen jury members to decide whether Nick was guilty of 1st degree murder, 2nd degree murder, or involuntary manslaughter.
They also had to decide if Nick was guilty of armed criminal action.

Nicholas Godejohn's defence team would later argue at his 2022 appeal hearing as to the role media played in prejudicing any chance Nick had in receiving a fair trial, as seen below. (Source: Official court documents received in 2025 by

A 2020 Equality and Human Rights Commission warned that the Criminal Justice System was failing people with learning disabilities and autism, and this is evident both during Nick's police interview and his trial.

Following Gypsy's release from prison in December 2024, she appeared on a podcast during which she stated, "I've had two relationships since I've been incarcerated, and each one of my exes, and even my husband, is like, 'Baby, if you would have asked me that question. If you would have said, 'Hey, can you kill my mom to get me out of the situation?' they would have said, "No. Okay. No. We're not doing that. Let's go to the police". (NIck Viall, 8th January, 2024).

Does either one of these men have Level 2 Autism Spectrum Disorder?
Nope.
Do they have Asperger's Syndrome, or an IQ lower than 82% of the population?
Nope.
Had either of them been manipulated and deceived to the point that they trusted and believed there was no other option?
Nope.
Did Nick choose to be in a relationship with a convicted murderer?
No.
Did they?
Yes.
That just about says all we need to know about Ryan Anderson and Kenyan Urker.

When Nicholas Godejohn first entered the prison system, his mental state was screened by Stacy Sullivan, a counsellor at Waukesha County jail, to evaluate if he required treatment from a psychiatrist, or any other form of care.
Stacy Sullivan saw Nick a total of four times over a one month period.
Stacy Sullivan's initial evaluation records that Nick had thoughts of suicide, was tearful, was vulnerable and said he was only worried about his girlfriend, Gypsy Blanchard.
It was recorded that there was concern about Nick being around other inmates.
Later evaluations noted that Nick lacked emotion and continued to worry about Gypsy, to the extent that Nick was less concerned about his charges and more worried about how Gypsy was doing.
Nick was noted in the record as saying on multiple occasions, “The only reason I did what I did was to be with my girlfriend”.

Stacy Sullivan concluded that the mental health unit was best placement for Nick.
Nick's defence team did not request Nick's jail records or Stacy Sullivan's mental evaluation to present at Nick's trial.

Nick chose not to take the stand at his trial, likely encouraged by his defence team by virtue of his intellectual disabilities, which in itself placed him at an unfair disadvantage.
Part of the reasoning also probably related to a pre-trial interview Nick had given in January 2018, in which he stated that just before killing Dee Dee, (Nick) "I waited at least a minute and thought about if I really wanted to do it".
The prosecutor at Nick's trial, Dan Patterson, used Nick's statement against him to show premeditation.

Nick's defence team called psychologist, Dr Kent Franks, to the stand, who testified under oath that Nick's Level 2 Autism Spectrum Disorder would have made it difficult for Nick to deliberate, a necessary component of first-degree murder.
The state then called an expert, Dr Denny, to refute Dr Frank's testimony.
Nick's defence team did not call an expert on autism to rebut Dr Denny's testimony, nor did they hire a a neuropsychologist to evaluate Nick.
N
ot a single member of Nick's family were called to provide evidence as to the “severity” of Nick's autism spectrum disorder and Asperger's Syndrome.

The jury at Nick's trial were not shown the instructional video Gypsy sent Nick about 2 weeks before Dee Dee was killed.
They were not shown the 'Ruby' video Gypsy sent Nick about 3 weeks before Dee Dee died.

They were not shown the videos Nick and Gypsy sent to each other.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard was subpoenaed to give evidence at Nick's trial.
In this instance, Nick's defence team failed him dreadfully.
What was the point of subpoenaing a compulsive liar other than to completely destroy the testimony of said compulsive liar?

NPG: Cornerstone Nation, a group who work on Nicholas Godejohn's behalf, recently released information pertaining to testimony Gypsy gave just before testifying at Nick's trial, dated 1st November, 2018. (As seen in images below).
In this testimony, Gypsy stated that "fifteen years" ("Just a little more than me") would have been a fair sentence for Nick to receive.
She also admitted that she lied during her police interview, and failed to tell the whole truth in TV interviews, including her interview with Dr Phil.
Her worse lie by far is her admittance that Nick did not rape her when she had sex with him following Dee Dee's murder.

On the 16th November 2018, a jury arguably corrupted by a false media narrative deliberated for two hours before finding Nicholas Godejohn guilty of first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

Prior to sentencing, Nick took the opportunity to speak to the judge, "When this whole thing happened, I said it before in my statements, it's very much the truth, so I'll just say it again. When this whole thing happened, all I ever really wanted was to be with Miss Blanchard. That's all I ever wanted to be. I've never known what it was to have a motherly love. I've never known what it was like to have a female connection. I've never known any of that. None of it. Because I've never known it, that's part of the reason why I strive so hard to get it, so much to the point where I don't even understand what it even feels like to have a female connection. It's missing. It's a missing link, it's always been a missing link. It's always been one, and that's the reason why, that's when I got so deep into this situation where I fell in love so deeply, they do say, they've always said it, love is blind, they've always said that. Well, I'll admit it, I was blindly in love. That was always very much the case. It was always that way. So I understand that you're a fair judge. I've heard it from both (?) and all I ask is for mercy, please. Mercy of any form. That's all I ask".

Nick was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of probation or parole, plus 25 years for armed criminal action.

Nick is serving his sentence at the Potosi Correctional Center in Mineral Point, Missouri.

Nick appealed his sentence and requested a new trial on the grounds of diminished capacity.
On June 24th, 2024, the supreme court denied Nick's application.

In March 2025, Nicholas Godejohn filed a Habeas Corpus application, an application filed to contest the legality of Nick's imprisonment.
And so the fight goes on.
At the very least, Nicholas Godejohn deserves a fair trial.
At the very least, Dee Dee Blanchard deserves justice.

And the monster that is Gypsy Rose Blanchard, walks freely amongst us.
